Warangal: Deputy Chief Minister Thatikonda Rajaiah said here on Sunday that a super-specialty hospital would soon come up in Warangal at a cost of Rs 150 crore.

He said efforts would be made to mould Warangal as a model medical district by modernising government hospitals and medical services. In accordance with the recommendations of Kamalanathan Committee, all vacant posts at the MGM Hospital would be filled up.

Similarly, existing 100-bedded Maternity Hospital in Hanamkonda would be upgraded to 200-bedded hospital at an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore, he said and directed the officials concerned to submit proposals for additional building complex and blood bank.

The Deputy Chief Minister on Sunday conducted a 24-hour ‘Hospital Stay’ programme and visited TB Hospital, Regional Eye Centre, CKM, MGM, ENT and Hanamkonda Maternity Hospitals at Warangal district headquarters. He planned an overnight stay at MGMH. Rajaiah inaugurated the new boy’s hostel at Kakatiya Medical College premises and laid foundation stone for new maternity and child care centre at MGM Hospital premises. He also inaugurated outpatient wing and 20-bed female wing at TB Hospital.

He asked the officials of the TB Hospital to submit proposals for the development of the hospital.

Rajaiah told the officials of different hospitals to ensure sanitation and punctuality. He stated that soon a vigilance and monitoring committee would be constituted.

During the visit to the hospitals, the Deputy CM interacted and examined some patients.

Warangal MP K Srihari said he would allocate funds from his MP fund to provide an ambulance and water plant at the maternity hospital at Hanamkonda. Mahabubabad MP A Sitaram Naik said he would allocate funds for an ambulance and water plant at CKM hospital. MLAs D Vinay Bhaskar, Aruri Ramesh and Konda Surekha, Zilla Parishad Chairperson G Padma, Additional Joint Collector K Krishna Reddy, Medical department officials P Srinivas and P Sambasiva Rao, KMC Principal Dr. S Ramesh Kumar, MGM Superintendent Dr. Manohar and others were present.
