Bhadrachalam: Before the grand spectacle of Lord Sitaramachandra Swamy's Teppotsavam ended, devotees experienced yet another exciting spiritual moment, the appearance of the presiding deity along with His consort, atop the Garuda Vahanam at the Northern Gate (‘Uttara Dwaram’) on Thursday.

This hill shrine reverberated with chants of 'Aum Ramaya Namaha' by the devotees. Appearance of the presiding deities on the illuminated premises of the temple was an electrifying moment for over one lakh devotees, who braved chilly winds and the early morning mist to take a holy dip in the Godavari. The adjacent Midhila Stadium was full. Ushering in of 2015 coinciding with Vaikunta Ekadasi made it even more special for the devotees.

Ministers Tummala Nageswara Rao, A Indrakaran Reddy, MP A Sitaram Naik, Collector Dr K Ilambarithi and SP Shahnawaz Qasim were present.

Heavy rush

Vemulawada: Devotees had darshan of the presiding deity through Uttara Dwaram at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy Temple at Vemulawada on Vaikunta Ekadasi. There was heavy rush of devotees, as the festival coincided with the New Year. At 4 am Ananta Padmanbha Swamy and His consort Lakshmi Devi and Lord Sriramachandra Murthy and His consort Sita were taken out in procession under Pallaki Seva from the temple to Uttara Dwaram.

Special prayers

Sircilla: Vedic pundits and priests offered special prayers to the deity at Sri Lakshmi Venkateswara Swamy temple at Sircilla from 2 am during the auspicious period of Lord Surya entering Uttarayana Punyakalam from Dakshinayayanam. The devotees were allowed to have Uttara Dwara darshan from 3.30 am. Thousands of devotees had darshan on Vaikunta Ekadasi. Devotees also thronged Saibaba temple for darshan.

Procession on Garuda Vahanam

Jammikunta: The presiding deity in Sri Sitaramachandra Swamy temple at Ellanthakunta in this mandal was taken in a procession on Garuda Vahanam. Devotees made a beeline to the temple to have the Lord’s darshan.
