Warangal: District BJP leaders on Sunday sought to know from Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, who has been hailing the Nizam, whether he would uphold the colonial rule of the British in the country.

‘If the Nizam was a great ruler, the British rulers too had done many good things despite their suppressive rule. Would KCR want people to celebrate their regime?’ posed district BJP president A Ashok Reddy.

Speaking to the media here, he felt that KCR by by of his ‘meaningless talk’ on the Nizam, was trying to misguide and divert the people’s attention from serious issues troubling the government.

‘The Chief Minister should explain why the public under the Nizam fought against him if he was a great ruler and why Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel was forced to take up police action to merge Hyderabad with the Union,” he demanded.

He recalled that various political parties, including the Congress, the Left and the Right, waged a united fight against the Nizam’s tyranny. The Bhairanpalli and Parkal massacres in the district were examples of such brutal rule.

How could KCR make statements praising the Nizam, wondered Reddy.

He said the CM’s remarks deeply hurt sentiments of families that suffered in the hands of ‘Razakars’ leader Kasim Razvi. Referring to Home Minister Naini Narasihma Reddy’s comments that tribal warrior Komuram Bheem was not killed by the Nizam’s forces, he demanded the Minister to explain who was the killer.

On the BJP membership drive, Reddy said it was being conducted successfully. On January 6, the last day, meetings would be held at the headquarters of all Assembly constituencies in the district.

One State leader would lead the meetings in each constituency where ‘Upamandal Pramukhs’ would be present. Inspired by the Prime Minister’s good governance, many youth were joining the party, he said.

He demanded a CID probe into the suspicious death of a BJP leader K Satyanarayana at Mulug.
