Hyderabad: The hardships of general public, elected representatives and government employees in Ranga Reddy district, who are made to shuttle between different departments scattered in the capital, are going to end in the near future. The Telangana government is scouting for convenient locations to build an Integrated Collectorate Complex in a sprawling area of 20 acres. Vacant land in Hyderabad Central University (HCU), Gachibowli, and another one near Budvel in Rajendranagar mandal are on the government’s radar.
- To move all depts in RR dist to one location
- At present, they are scattered across the city
Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao has entrusted the task of finalisation of the location to Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and the latter personally visited Gachibowli on Monday for this purpose. The State Government has provide large tracts of land to the premier varsity several years ago and some part of it could be resumed now if this location is finalised, a senior official in the revenue department said.
The proposed integrated Collectorate complex will give a new identity for Ranga Reddy district, more so since a new district Viakarabad is likely to be carved out of it soon. Gachibowli area is being preferred by all political parties since it is well connected with outer ring road network. At present, various departments of Ranga Reddy district administration are located in the four different corners of the capital.
While the Collectorate is located at Lakdikapul, agricultural department head office is at Malakpet. District Medical and Health Office (DMHO) office is located in Rajendranagar, and Horticulture, Housing and Irrigation Departments offices are in Red Hills. Similarly, Roads and Buildings office is in Balkampet, and that of Rural Water Supply (RWS) is in Uppal. Minority Welfare and Prohibition and Excise offices are in Nampally and Zilla Parishad in Khairatabad.
Given their scattered locations, it is becoming increasingly difficult especially for government officials to come from far-off locations for meetings convened by the Collector at Lakdikapul. Not only precious time and fuel are spent, staff are also getting exhausted due to grueling journey amid frequent traffic snarls. Even elected representatives are feeling the pinch in move from one department to the other to meet higher officials on constituency-related issues.
Taking the travails of various section into account, the government has decided to house all government departments at one place, as is the case in Nalgonda, Karimnagar, Medak districts etc, where at least 40 to 50 departments are located on the same campus. The latest addition to this list, Medak Collecterate at Sangareddy wears a corporate look replete with ample space between blocks, besides sporting an eco-friendly design. This ultra-modern construction was built in 10 acres with a budget of Rs 23.7 crore.
