Hyderabad: The Jubilee Hills police on Friday night registered a case against the family members of deceased music director Chakri for allegedly harassing his wife. Ever since death of Chakri on December 15, his wife Sravani has been alleging harassment from her in-laws over property left behind by him.

Earlier, she had also approached State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and filed a harassment case against her in-laws. However, Chakri’s family assured her to sort out the ‘family matter’ with arbitration process. Nevertheless, on Friday night she again decided to complain with the police against six family members of Chakri which include her mother-in-law Vidyavati, Chakri’s brother Mahit Narayana, sisters Vani Devi, Krishna Priya, brothers-in-law Lakshmana Rao and Nageswara Rao. “We are investigating the case after booking cases against the family members,” said M Mahender Reddy, sub-inspector Jubilee Hills police station.

Sravani expressed doubts over Chakri’s death and alleged that the gold ornaments, office keys were taken by them immediately after his death. Even the death certificate of her husband was with them, she said in her complaint. She also alleged that they were forcing her to transfer the properties in their names and added that her sister-in-law has taken Rs 50 lakh as a loan from Chakri and now threatening her.
