Markandeya Jayanti celebrated on grand scale
Markandeya Jayanti Celebrated on Grand Scale. Members belonging to the Padmashali community organised a Radha Yatra on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Markandeya, the child devotee of Lord Shiva on Friday. The Padmashalis are devotees of Markandeya and worship him as God.

Markandeya was destined to have a short life span. However, owing to his steadfast devotion to Lord Shiva, he expanded his life span manifold. The birth anniversary celebrations have been organised on a grand scale during the last 10 days.
As part of Markandeya’s birth anniversary celebrations, special prayers, rituals and homams were organized in temples in Jagtial. Thousands of devotees thronged the temples in the town from the early hours of Friday.
The Utsav Idol of Markandeya was taken around in the town passing through several streets. Several weavers and textile workers participated in the Shobha Yatra.
