Hyderabad: Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari threatened the Telangana TDP leader Mothkupalli Narasimhulu with slapping legal action for his alleged comments against the status of his caste, if he failed to withdraw his remarks. Addressing a press conference here on Thursday, Kadiam Srihari demanded an explanation from the TDP leader, asking him whether his allegations were of his own, or even his party too held the same opinion. If TDP too held Narasimhulu’s views, then he would not hesitate to drag TDP chief and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to the court, he warned.

Rebutting the allegations of Narasimhulu that both the parents of Srihari belonged to a BC caste and that Srihari was a BC leader, the Deputy Chief Minister said he wanted to ‘set the record straight’. Kadiam maintained that he was an individual of SC community and belonged to the ‘Baindla’ sub-caste, and rubbished Narasimhulu’s claim that the sub-caste ‘Baindla’ was a BC caste. Further, he said that he had never claimed himself to be a ‘Madiga’ to get any benefit out of it, and hence the allegations against him were ‘completely false.’

He dared the TDP leader to file a complaint against him with the district collector of Warangal, or approach the court and election commission to disqualify him, if he was so sure of his remarks. The Deputy Chief Minister also demanded an explanation from Minister Chandrababu Naidu, in the latter’s capacity as the chief of TDP. Srihari referred to a GO that gives a list of 56 SC sub-castes and added that the ‘Baindla’ was one among these castes.

Srihari disapproved the manner in which Narasimhulu gave a goby to decorum in making such an allegation. Srihari expressed suspicion that Narasimhulu and other TDP leaders might be “envious” of him, as he had been made Deputy Chief Minister. He said he would take charge as Deputy Chief Minister and as Education Minister on Friday morning. First, he would conduct a review with the Education department officials either on Monday or on Tuesday, he said.
