Kothagudem (Khammam): The Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) Director (Finance) S Vivekanand on Wednesday said the company had earmarked Rs 15.56 crore for the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities for the current year. He said the company had decided to allocate one per cent more out of its profits for CSR activities.

It may be mentioned here that the companies had to spend two per cent of its profits under CSR.
He also recalled that the company had extended its services under surrounding habitat assistance programme (SHAPE) even before the CSR was made mandatory by the government.

Stating that the SCCL has been in the forefront in helping the unemployed youth in the region, the director said. The company had spent Rs 14.41 lakh in 2012 and Rs 15.25 lakh in 2014 for organising Army Recruitment Rally in Kothagudem.

The company was now spending Rs 15 lakh for the ongoing Rally.

Besides this, the SCCL under the aegis of Singareni Seva Samiti had organised pre-rally camps and trained 14,270 local youths during the last 15 years. As many as 1,397 youths were recruited to work in para-military services, he said.

General Manager (welfare and CSR) A Anand Rao, Army officials A K Rohilla and S S Rathore were among others present at the meeting.
