The Union Minister is learnt to have offered to provide the World Bank funds for execution of the project which is aimed at providing safe and purified drinking water to nine districts of Telangana.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Monday met Union Minister Veerendra Singh and sought financial assistance for the prestigious Water Grid project. The Union Minister is learnt to have offered to provide the World Bank funds for execution of the project which is aimed at providing safe and purified drinking water to nine districts of Telangana.

KCR requested the Union Minister to release adequate funds for the flagship programmes such as water grid, employment guarantee scheme, development of backward areas besides expanding the employment guarantee scheme to all mandals to ensure livelihood to the poor and downtrodden sections. The Telangana Chief Minister urged Veerendra Singh to ensure timely release of the funds and enable his government to complete the project in a time-bound manner.

KCR called on Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu. Venkaiah later told media that the Centre will extend all support and cooperation for Telangana State to take up its flagship programmes. He said KCR had given a good presentation on Hyderabad development. The Centre, he said, will offer favorable support for all welfare schemes and development programmes in Telangana State.

“We have discussed all the issues related to Telangana and extend all possible support,” Naidu asserted. Later, KCR remarked that people of Telangana are fortunate to have a Central Minister like Venkaiah Naidu who is keen to support the development of the State. Indeed, we have spoken at length and the Union minister assured to address the State issues after giving a patient hearing,” KCR averred.
