Gajwel: Villagers of Veluru are in the grip of fear as rumours are flying thick and fast about a ferocious tiger on the prowl. Some locals claimed that they saw the tiger and also noticed tiger’s paw marks in the village.
Also, people said to have found the carcass of a wild boar, compounding the fear.

On Tuesday, some villagers reportedly heard the roar of a tiger near Patel Cheruvu. On Wendesday, a farmer, Uppari Narsimhulu , hailing from a village close to Bapayya Cheruvu Forest Range, claimed to have seen the wild cat and in fear, ran back to the village and told everyone. When the villagers went out to find the tiger, they saw the paw impressions on the ground, said the locals.

Azam Hussain and Sadat Mia, Forest beat officers at Velur, Minajipeta and Mulugu, however said that the paw marks seemed to be more like a hyena’s.
