Contaminated water is said to be the cause

Mahabubnagar: About 50 persons were affected with diarrhoea at Rajoli village in Vaddepalli mandal in the district on Wednesday. They are undergoing treatment at a local government hospital.

Villagers said that people were affected with diarrhoea after drinking contaminated water from a water tank. They alleged that polluted water entered through a leakage into the pipe supplying drinking water to water tank.

Villagers expressed anguish that officials failed to resolve the problem though several complaints were lodged during the past 10 days.

Relatives of an elderly woman, Nagamma, said that she died of diarrhoea at Kurnool Government hospital on Saturday while undergoing treatment.

Villagers urged the officials concerned to carry out repair to the leaking pipe, clean drainages and stop meat sales in the village for at least 10 days.
