Initiating the discussion, the leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy found fault with the state government for escalating the estimations of tax collection in 2015-16 budget and showing same figures in the Budget Estimates (BE)
Hyderabad: An exclusive news story published in The Hans India about the concocted figures in the budget presented to the Telangana State Assembly figured in the House on Friday when it took up the statutory discussion on the budget. Initiating the discussion, the leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy found fault with the state government for escalating the estimations of tax collection in 2015-16 budget and showing same figures in the Budget Estimates (BE) and also in the Revised Estimates (RE) in 2014-15. He sought clarity from the government.
He wondered why the government had set the target of collecting Rs 59,000 crore tax revenue as against Rs 44,000 crore last year. In reality, not more than Rs 30,000 crore was collected last year leaving a gap of Rs 14,000 crore as deficit. Terming the budget an ornamental, Jana Reddy warned the government that it would face severe financial crisis and would fail in implementation of welfare programmes with the non-realisation of tax collections this year.

He sought to know why the BE and RE in 2014-15 budget were the same. Reddy found fault with the government for not allocating specific funds for Nettampadu, Kalwakurthy and Bheema lift irrigation projects. He welcomed the government’s plan to take up Palamuru Ranga Reddy project but added that the detailed project report was found to be full of errors. He suggested the government take up Mission Kakatiya scheme meant for the revival of tanks on a priority basis.
