Peddapally (Karimnagar): Ward members under the banner of the Gram Panchayat Ward Members Forum staged a rasta roko here on Saturday demanding that the Telangana State government extend honorarium to them as it was providing for other people’s representatives.
Gram Panchayat Ward Members Forum district president Edunuri John said the State government was showing discrimination towards ward members who were also elected by people. He pointed out that ward members had met the Panchayat Raj and IT Minister K Taraka Ramarao on three occasions, urging him to resolve their problems. He stated that the TRS government enhanced honorarium to MPTCs even though they did not ask for it.
