As a part of making a citizen-friendly police, city police issued 200 iPads with 3G connectivity to the verification officers of the Special Branch for speedy verification of Passport Particulars Forms (PPFs) on Tuesday. Releasing the gadgets, Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sudeep Lakhtakia said that all the verification officers and the supervisory officers have been trained to use the iPads and the technology required for speedy verification of the PPFs.

Hyderabad: As a part of making a citizen-friendly police, city police issued 200 iPads with 3G connectivity to the verification officers of the Special Branch for speedy verification of Passport Particulars Forms (PPFs) on Tuesday. Releasing the gadgets, Additional DGP (Law & Order) Sudeep Lakhtakia said that all the verification officers and the supervisory officers have been trained to use the iPads and the technology required for speedy verification of the PPFs.

“Average time taken for passport verification was 61 days in 2012, 35 days in 2013 and 27 in last quarter of 2014. Due to special drive taken up from December of last year, there was tremendous improvement in the passport verification. In January this year, average time was reduced to 19 days and further reduced to 13 days in February. We achieved 6 days average in March 2015 with 100 per cent of the forms verification within the time limit,” Lakhtakia said He further mentioned that by the end of January, there was a significant improvement in public satisfaction.

“Out of 89 officers, 84 achieved 70/70 marks of satisfaction and four were rated at 67/70 and one at 65/70. "A browser-based application named ‘VeriFast’ was tailored to our requirements which was designed by ONV Skillbuilder Private Limited, Hyderabad in consultation with the PV Cell, Hyderabad City,” the senior officer said, adding that citizens can call 27852606 or SMS 9490616338 to get the issue addressed if there is any delay in verification.

“It is once again reiterated that no fees is charged for police verification. Police strictly disapproves the payment of voluntary tips to the enquiry officers. If there is any such demand from the enquiry officer, the same may be informed to 9490616690 or 9490616564,” Lakhtakia said. Hyderabad CP, M Mahender Reddy, Additional CP (Law & Order) Anjani Kumar and Additional CP (Crime & SIT) Swati Lakra were also present.

Similarly, Cyberabad Commissionerate which had launched the Passport Verification System by issuing 75 Samsung Tabs to its verifying officers in the field 40 days back, had a meeting with the entire team of TCS along with RPO, Hyderabad (Ashwini Sattaru), RPO, Delhi (Narendra Singh) and other MEA officials who visited the commissionerate for an on-field study of the project on Tuesday. The meeting was chaired by CP Cyberabad , CV Anand and demo was given by ACP (Passport) Ravinder Reddy.
