HC exempts EC from poll cases
Justice M S Ramachandra Rao of the High court at Hyderabad on Wednesday allowed a batch of 16 petitions filed by the Election Commission of India and declared that it was not a required party in election petitions filed against various sitting MLAs. Most of the petitions related to elected MLAs of the city.

The election petitions include two filed against Akbaruddin Owaisi from Chandrayangutta constituency, two against Syed Ahmed Pasha Quadri from Charminar constituency, Ahmed bin Abdulla (Malakpet) , Jaffar Hussai ( Nampally) , Mohd Moazam Khan ((Bahadurpura), Kausar Moinuddin ( (Kaarwan) Mumtaz Ahmed Kahn ((Yakutpura), K P Vivekanand ((Qutubullapur) R Pratap ( Ghanapur SC reserved constituency) Warangal, Komatireddy Venkat Reddy (Nalgonda) Arekepudi Gandhi (Serilingampally). The judge referred to the provisions of the Representation of Peoples Act.
