First time legislators lament that meeting the Chief Minister has become a herculean task

Hyderabad: Meeting their leader and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao personally has become a herculean task for the ruling TRS legislators. As many as 40 MLAs, most of them elected for the first time, were seen making regular visits to the Chief Ministers Office and the Camp Office seeking appointment to meet KCR, but in vain in the last two months. Sources said most of the MLAs were eager to meet the Chief Minister and present a charter of demands on development of their respective constituencies and seek the latter’s intervention in implementing welfare schemes effectively in their areas.

The officials of the CMO and Camp Office received numerous requests from the MLAs but did not accept them citing that the CM was pre-occupied and busy with official work. An MLA from Nalgonda district, on a condition of anonymity, told The Hans India that he put all energies to meet the CM. However, he did not receive positive response so far.

He said he wanted to explain KCR the woes being faced by people of his constituency due to drinking water problem in summer and the delay in preparing contingency plans by the district administration. The MLA also prepared a report on the implementation of welfare schemes like old age pension, food security and housing.

“Only Ministers and Parliamentary Secretaries have access to the CMO and Camp Office. MLAs are ignored completely. We have to depend on Ministers to address some important issues which can be sorted out by discussing with CM only,” the MLA said. Another MLA from Karimnagar district said he conceived many developmental programmes to suit the local needs. People and local leaders were insisting to implement them. Without the CM’s approval and release of funds, the works could not be taken up. The camp office was also poured in with applications from the MLAs inviting KCR to lay foundation stones for developmental works in their constituencies.
