Sangareddy (Medak): In the wake of the shooting incident at Suryapet bus station in which a constable and a Home Guard were killed allegedly by an armed UP gang, the police conducted ‘Nakabandi’ (vehicle checks) across Medak district on Friday from 4 pm to 6 pm. The police action followed the orders issued by Superintendent of Police B Sumati. As many as 266 police personnel and Home Guards were on duty during the searches.

The checks were organised in RC Puram, Kollakal, near Vontimamidi, at RTA check-posts of Bidar, besides Moorgi check-post and Jagdevpur/Pragnapur cross roads. The area Deputy Superintendents of Police supervised the operation. The SP herself went round the district. During the operation near Vontimamidi, the police seized Rs 20 lakh from a trader. His detention in the Mulug police station sparked tension. The amount was later handed over to the Income Tax Department.

SP conducts vehicle check on highways

Police personnel conducted extensive vehicle checks on national highways across the district late on Thursday night. District Superintendent of Police (SP) B Sumathi participated in vehicle checks near toll gate under Ramachandrapuram limits. Speaking to the media, Sumathi said that the Police Department is taking all measures to keep law and order under control. She said that police took two suspects into custody at Siddipet while conducting vehicle checks. She pointed out that police would take up vehicle checks on regular basis from now onwards.
