A Mining Sirdar, Satyanarayana, died on the spot in a wall collapse incident that took place in the Singareni mine SRP-3 in the Srirampur division in the town on Monday. Large quantities of water were stored in one of the mines and a wall was also constructed in it to prevent water from gushing out. While there was water stored in Level 13, eleven workers were performing their duties in Level 16-B.

The Singareni workers alleged that the management failed to take proper safety measures and was playing with the lives of the workers.

Mancherial (Adilabad): A Mining Sirdar, Satyanarayana, died on the spot in a wall collapse incident that took place in the Singareni mine SRP-3 in the Srirampur division in the town on Monday. Large quantities of water were stored in one of the mines and a wall was also constructed in it to prevent water from gushing out. While there was water stored in Level 13, eleven workers were performing their duties in Level 16-B. All of a sudden, the wall, which was separating the two levels, collapsed and water gushed out with great force on the workers.

Mining Sirdar Satyanarayana, who was on duty, raised an alarm and shouted at the mining workers to escape. While all of them could escape, Satyanarayana, who was responsible for saving several lives, drowned in water which engulfed the minefield. The Singareni workers alleged that the management failed to take proper safety measures and was playing with the lives of the workers. Demanding stringent action against the Mining Manager who was responsible for the accident, they said that the management should pay an ex-gratia of Rs 40 lakh to the family of Satyanarayana.
