Suryapet shootout: SIMI using Hyderabad, Vijayawada for logistics: NIA

Through the investigations by the National Investigation Agency into the terror attack at Suryapet last week where two Simi activists were killed, a terror attack was planned in Delhi.

The logistics indicate planning of a strike in the National Capital and that the terror module was using Hyderabad and Vijayawada.

A senior intelligence official of the AP police said that the Delhi-Hyderabad train ticket recovered from the suspects indicating a strong Delhi link emerging to strike in the capital. The Central agencies had informed both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana intelligence agencies that the suspects had been using Vijayawada and Hyderabad as their hideouts.

Suspicions are rife that Simi supporters have been using Hyderabad, Nalgonda and Vijayawada as their hideouts. Nalgonda District has already identified 45 Simi supporters and other terror organizations. The NIA are yet to receive the investigations into the shootout by the Telangana government where three police personnel were killed in two related incidents on Thursday and Sunday.

The National Investigation Agency is running out a parallel investigation along with the Telangana and Andhra Pradesh police forces; two suspects - Md Aijajuddeen, the amir (chief) of the module, Md Ismail were shot dead in an encounter on Saturday. Three more suspects are still on the run, out of the five who have escaped from Khandwa jail in Madhya Pradesh in 2013.

While the pressure to hand over the probe to the NIA is getting higher, BJP leaders are insisting that the government hand over the case to the Central agency.
