A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday adjourned to Friday a batch of writ petitions questioning the action of the government of Telangana in collecting Motor Vehicle Tax from vehicles entering Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. As reported earlier, many transport operators of commercial vehicles approached the court challenging the action of the TS government in collecting the tax in spite of the same tax being collected in AP.

A two-judge bench of the High Court at Hyderabad on Tuesday adjourned to Friday a batch of writ petitions questioning the action of the government of Telangana in collecting Motor Vehicle Tax from vehicles entering Telangana from Andhra Pradesh. As reported earlier, many transport operators of commercial vehicles approached the court challenging the action of the TS government in collecting the tax in spite of the same tax being collected in AP. They said that as Hyderabad was a common capital, the action of the government in collecting tax again was illegal. The bench had directed the petitioners to pay an indemnity bond and had stayed the order of the TS government. The bench adjourned the case for interim orders.
