Closure of public industrial units

Hyderabad: Various political parties expressed solidarity with the Maha Dharna organised by All India Trade Unions at Indira Park on Wednesday against the State government’s lackadaisical policy towards public industrial units, prompting their closure. The trade unions including CITU, AITUC, BMS, INTUC, HMS, AIUTUC and several others alleged that during the last nine months at least 50 public industrial units were closed due to the neglect of TRS government.

At least 25,000 workers lost their employment directly, which indirectly affected 50,000 persons, including family members. Sirpur Paper Mills (SPM) is the most recent case of the government neglect. The management has failed to clear the dues of five months wages for its employees and has stopped paper production seven months ago.

Apart from this, Cement Corporation of Adilabad, Kamalapur (Warangal) Bilt Industry etc are some of the examples. They expressed irony that the Naini Narasimha Reddy, Labour Minister who also president for workers unions of some of the industries including SPM, failed to stop this. State secretariat members and former MLAs of CPI and CPM, Gunda Mallesh and Julakanti Rangareddy, TDP politburo member E Peddi Reddy, Prof K Nageshwar, BJP MLC N Ramchander Rao and others visited the place.
