Karimnagar: Telangana based Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) is going to operate coal blocks in four foreign countries soon. In order to expand its business to other counties, SCCL has decided to run coal blocks in South Africa, Indonesia, Australia and Mozambique.

Disclosing details of the company’s foreign business to media persons at a press conference at Godavarikhani on Thursday, SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar said that a team of experts went to foreign countries to study the situation and it will submit its report within 45 days after which the company will take a decision.Apart from this, the company has also decided to start 17 new coal mines through which it expects to produce 35,000 million tonnes of coal in the coming five year, Sridhar said.

The works of Naini coal block in Thalther area of Odisha state were in progress, he said and added that explosives teams had also gone to the coal block. He hoped that the mine wills startd production in after five years. About 100 million tonnes of coal is expected to be produced from this block, he informed.Asking the employees to work hard for the better future of the Telangana, the CMD said the electricity problem of the new state would be solved if the 17 new mines became operational.

The first phase (600 MW) of Jaipur thermal power station would become operational from November and second phase (600 MW) from December this year, he informed and added that a total of 1,200 MW power would be available by the end of this year.Status of the Jaipur project was being reviewed every three months, he said and informed that work of third phase (600 MW) had also started.

There were 65,000 employees working in the company and a notification was given for the recruitment for 5,200 vacant posts, Sridhar said and asked unemployed youth not to believe brokers as the recruitment process would be transparent.On investments in other companies, the CMD said the SCCL was asked to invest 15 per cent for the revival of Fertiliser Corporation of India (FCI)’s Ramagundam unit.

However, the company would take a decision on assessing whether if there was any benefit for company, he said. Based on the government request, the SCCL had agreed to extend support to the government in setting up of medical college in Godavarikhani though the company has no relation with medical department, he said.

The CMD said SCCL has won Golden Peacock award for producing sand with the mud generated in open caste mines. The award will be given by the cultural minister of United Arab Emirates on April 20. Sridhar, who was touring the employees colonies for the last few days, said company was planning to build double bedroom quarters for employees.
