Scrap Land Acquisition Bill, demands VH

Mahabubnagar: Senior Congress leader and Rajya Sabha member V Hanumantha Rao on Friday toured several villages in the mandals of Shadnagar, Kothur and Balanagar in the district and interacted with farmers. Speaking to the media, Rao gave a call to farmers to attend a massive public meeting being organised by the Congress party at Ramlila Grounds in Delhi on April 19 for scrapping of the Land Acquisition Bill brought out by the BJP-led NDA government.
The Congress MP asked the BJP government as to how a four-member farmer family could lead life if it is provided only a single job after acquiring their lands. He demanded the Central government to provide lands to farmers at some other place after taking their lands as part of acquisition.
Rao slammed the ruling parties at State and Centre for acquiring lands from farmers and handing over them to corporate sector in the garb of development. He stated that the State and Central governments should take lands from farmers if they voluntarily hand over them. He said that the Congress party would fight on behalf of farmers if their lands were acquired forcefully.
