The ‘Free Wi-Fi’ project will be launched on Thursday at 5.15 pm by Telangana IT Minister Taraka rama Rao today in Hotel Marriott. The project will be launched with the first video call (Facetime) made by Minister KTR to Union Telecom Minister Ravishanakar Prasad.

The free Wi-Fi service will begin in phases across the entire city while the launching day lets the surfers use the internet in a 10 km radius around Hussainsagar.

From 1,800 to 2,500 citizens can utilize the free Wi-Fi service at the same time around the 10 km radius of Hussainsagar, say BSNL and Quad Gen officials. The areas included in the radius are Necklace Road, Tank Bund and Lumbini Park. The first 20 minutes of log in to the Wi-Fi service will be free and the access speed will be of 2 mbps to 20 mbps.
