Boora Narsaiah GoudNew Delhi: Continuing the tirade against Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi for planning to tour Telangana, TRS MP Boora Narsaiah Goud, on Tuesday, questioned the rationale behind his proposed yatra. Accusing the Congress of being responsible for the plight of the farmers in the country, the MP said Rahul Gandhi should first clarify what the Congress has done for the welfare of farmers.

  • Congress regime should be blamed for farmers’ suicides in Telangana, Vidarbha and Bundelkhand.
  • Feels farmers would have been in a better position, if only Congress had completed irrigation projects like Nettempadu, Kalwakurthi, Nakkalagandi and SLBC Left Canal

If the farm community today was in distress everywhere including Telangana, Vidarbha and Bundelkhand, it was because of the anti-farmer policies of the previous Congress regime, he said. If farmers were committing suicide it was all because of the Congress regime's flawed policies, he said. The TRS under the leadership of K Chandrashekar Rao had envisaged Mission Kakatiya precisely to better the lives of the farmers.

If only Congress were to complete the irrigation projects like Nettempadu, Kalwakurthi, Nakkalagandi and SLBC Left Canal etc. the farmers would not have faced today's crisis. Instead of shedding crocodile tears and practising self-deceit, Rahul Gandhi and Congress party would do well to introspect, he suggested. Reacting sharply to it, AICC spokesperson and former MP, Madhu Yashki Goud, asked the TRS to look into ‘its own backyard’ and stop teaching Rahul Gandhi moral lessons.

Neither Chandrashekar Rao nor his family members had any moral right to talk about the plight of the people as ‘they never cared for them’. The family was only interested in usurping all posts and positions by deceit and had no interest either in farmers or in Telangana, he said. Defending Rahul Gandhi’s visit, he said his leader was genuinely concerned about the farmers’ plight in the country and it was not just Telangana he was touring.
