Hyderabad: The Telangana government is planning to convene a special session of the State Assembly to seek disqualification of TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy who was caught red handed in the cash-for-vote scandal. According to sources the State Government is also said to be seeking legal opinion on whether TDP national president and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu could be included as an accused in the case.

This speculation gained ground as Telangana State Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) Director General AK Khan and Intelligence Chief Shivadhar Reddy met Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao on Thursday at his camp office. They are believed to have discussed the ongoing investigations into the sensational case.

A decision on inclusion of Naidu as an accused in the case is likely to be taken only after the court give its verdict on Revanth Reddy's custody petition and also on the statement that he makes before the ACB during interrogation. The ACB earlier filed a petition before the Special Court for ACB cases seeking five-day custody of Revanth Reddy for further questioning. The next hearing on the case is posted for Friday.

The hearing on Revanth Reddy's bail petition is scheduled for Friday. It is learnt that instead of relying only on the interaction between the two MLAs, the ACB wants to strengthen its case by recording Revanth Reddy's statement by taking him into custody. Intensifying the attack on Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Kadiam Srihari alleged that the Chandrababu Naidu’s life itself was full of ‘transactions’ and ‘back stabbing’.

Speaking to the media at the TRSLP office here on Thursday, Srihari said that Chandrababu was the first person who raised the curtains to the ‘transactions’ culture in politics. “Chandrababu speaks ethics, but indulges in conspiracies,” he alleged. Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao alleged that the Naidu was trying to hatch conspiracies against Telangana State for political benefits.

In counter move, the TDP is understood to be mulling ways to make Revanth resign from the party even before the government decides to convene the special session of the Assembly. The party is also said to be taking measures to delink Naidu from the entire episode.

TDP sources on Thursday alleged that the Telangana government has been tapping the telephones of close associates of Naidu. In an interesting development, Union Minister of State Sujana Chowdary and AP State government’s special representative in Delhi K Ramamohan Rao met the AP Chief Secretary IYR Krishna Rao along with a business delegation where Andhra DGP J V Ramudu and State Intelligence Chief A R Anuradha also joined them.

Speculation ise rife that Revanth issue and TS government’s intentions figured in the meeting. Meanwhile, the Union Energy Minister Piyush Goel’s meeting with Telangana Chief Minister also led to speculations that he tried to mediate in the issue. However, Goel denied having discussed any such issue with KCR.

Countering the attack by Telangana ministers, AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu alleged that Naini Narsimha Reddy was resorting to blackmail. Talking to media on Thursday, Ramakrishnudu said that the arrest of Revanth was a clear conspiracy hatched by TRS and YSRCP. The very fact that both these parties are demanding that Naidu be named as accused in this episode clearly shows that they have a nexus.

Seeking and asking for vote in elections is a general practice. But, setting up cameras at the residence of the nominated MLA after coming to know that Revanth Reddy is going there, clearly shows the conspiracy behind it, he added. Responding for first time after Telugu Desam legislator Revanth Reddy ended up in the iniquitous cash-for-vote case, Naidu also today slammed Narsimha Reddy for trying to blackmail him.
