Hyderabad: Commemorating the Beas river tragedy in which 24 engineering students died exactly one year ago, the ‘unfortunate parents’ will organise a ‘silent awareness walk’ from People’s Plaza towards Tank Bund on Monday.

The parents who firmly believe that it was the negligence and irresponsibility which led to their deaths, wish to send a strong signal that a ‘tirade’ is launched against criminal negligence acts committed by the irresponsible institutions.

Beas river tragedy occurred on June 8, at about 6.30 pm in Himachal Pradesh, where in 24 engineering students of the city-based VNR Vignana Jyoti Institute of Engineering and Technology lost their lives. They were on an industrial tour.

Parents believe that they died due to the criminal negligence of Beas dam authorities and irresponsibility of the college. The walk will commence at 5 pm and will conclude at 6.30 pm.
