Hyderabad : The two-judge PIL bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosale and Justice SV Bhatt on Monday adjourned by two weeks a writ plea filed by Rajarapu Prathap questioning action of the Government of Telangana for its failure to pay salaries in accordance with various laws and not regularizing service of 50,000 employees of Grama panchayats, who have been working in 8000 gram panchayats across the Telangana state as illegal, unjust, arbitrary, unlawful and against the Minimum Wages Act, 1948 and the Contract Labour (Prohibition & Regularize) Act, 1970, the Payment of Wages Act, 1972, the Equal Remuneration Act, 1976 and the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972. The petitioner complained that such action by the government in not even paying minimum wages showed the government in poor light and that such action was patently unconstitutional.
