The two-judge PIL Bench of the High Court at Hyderabad comprising of Acting Chief Justice Dilip B Bhosle and Justice SV Bhatt granted three more weeks for the response in the writ plea filed against University Grant Commission and others for not acting under the law and stalling universities from granting degrees contrary to law.

The petitioners Prof. G. Shiva Reddy & another also sought a direction to UGC to initiate action against the erring universities which have been contravening the provisions of section 22(3) of the Universities Grants Commission Act, 1956 and notifications issued there under and to ensure proper implementation of the rules and regulations framed by the Universities Grant Commission.
