The monsoon session of both Houses of Telangana State Legislature is likely to begin in August first week. According to sources, it will be held for eight to ten days. The government intends to complete the formalities by August 10 to enable the official machinery to get ready for Independence Day celebrations. This will give a five-day cushion for authorities to go full throttle for the Independence Day fete.

The government intends to complete the formalities by August 10 to enable the official machinery to get ready for Independence Day celebrations. This will give a five-day cushion for authorities to go full throttle for the Independence Day fete.


With MLC elections under Local Body quota due in Telangana State, political parties are expecting Election Commission to sound poll bugle any time. Hoping that election process will be completed by end of July, government has tentatively decided to hold session in August first week.


In case, Election Commission extends the poll process into August first week, both Telangana State Assembly and Legislative Council will be convened only after Independence Day. Meanwhile, Telangana authorities are not ruling out clash of monsoon session of Telangana State and Andhra Pradesh State Legislatures.


It may be recalled that both states held their budget sessions simultaneously in March this year. Monsoon session dates are likely to clash for a few days at least if not for the entire session, feel officials. TRS functionaries are expecting monsoon session to be a stormy affair in view of the cash-for-vote scam.
