According to the Supreme Court verdict, Maharashtra government on Wednesday lifted the Babli project gates and released 0.17 TMC of water into Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP). The Maharashtra, Telangana and Central Water Commission Irrigation officials participated in this event.

Nizamabad: According to the Supreme Court verdict, Maharashtra government on Wednesday lifted the Babli project gates and released 0.17 TMC of water into Sri Ram Sagar Project (SRSP). The Maharashtra, Telangana and Central Water Commission Irrigation officials participated in this event.


According to the Supreme Court verdict, every year from July 1 to October 28, Maharashtra government should open the Babli gates and release river Godavari water in to SRSP. Nanded district Executive Engineer (EE) Avaste, SRSP EE Rama Rao and Central Water Commission EE Srinivas have monitored the opening of the gates and lifted all the 14 gates up to 4 meters height at 12 pm on Wednesday. With this, the water levels in SRSP will increase from 1057.6 meters to 1057.8 meters.
