CBSE not informed about Inter exam scores

Hyderabad: In what could sound a death-knell to the careers of thousands of students in Telangana, the rank cards for Joint Entrance Examination (Main) turned out to be blank cards. The Telangana State’s Board of Intermediate Education (BIE) has failed to update the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) with the latest scores in the Intermediate examinations, it is learnt. The JEE Main qualified are given ranks by giving 40 per cent weightage for the Intermediate marks.

The JEE Main ranks were announced by CBSE on Wednesday. The students along with their parents protested against the attitude of BIE officials for not sending marks to CBSE. This has led the students who passed JEE in losing their rank status.“We have applied for the re-verification of answer scripts and marks were increased in couple of subjects.

JEE students protesting outside the Telangana Secretariat on Wednesday

The Board, which has to update the CBSE with the latest score of the students, had failed putting our careers in the dark,” lamented Sachin, a victim, who was protesting at Telangana Secretariat. It is learnt that Medak Collector Rahul Bojja’s son was also a victim of the BIE officials’ doing.

Aggrieved students and parents approached the Board officials, however, their concerns fell deaf on ears, students lamented. “The joint counselling for admissions into IITs, ISM and NITs already commenced on Wednesday and will be held till July 5. The government is playing with careers of students. We spoke to Commissioner of Intermediate Education.

He informed us that he will take up the matter. This issue cannot be worked out at Board level. Unless the government takes up the issue with Union HRD ministry it will not be resolved,” said Prasad, a parent who approached BIE said. According to sources, the Board has not submitted marks of 1,178 students. They further said the Commissioner of Intermediate Education was in talks with the CBSE to resolve the issue.

Interestingly, the CBSE had asked all the boards to submit the marks latest by June 25. However, the Board failed to do so, it is learnt. Meanwhile, the Telugu-speaking students failed to bag top ranks in the BTech stream of JEE Main. However, they managed to achieve ranks in the BArch stream.

This year only one Telugu student G Harshith bagged eighth rank in the BTech stream. And in the BArch stream, Sharmila Reddy bagged first rank in the open category; SNVSR Krishna Prudhvi bagged third rank in the open category, fourth rank by D Sai Bhasker in the BArch stream. None of the Telugu-speaking students figured in the top five ranks of the JEE Main.
