Hyderabad: The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) on Thursday maintained that there will be no loss to the party due to the exit of former PCC chief D Srinivas from the party. Speaking to the media persons here at Gandhi Bhavan, TPCC president Uttam Kumar Reddy said it was unfair on the part of DS to blame the Congress party after enjoying various positions.

"The Congress party has given him life in politics and he enjoyed various positions including MLA for seven times, two-time MLC and two times PCC Chief", the TPCC chief said. He questioned DS that how can he join a party which had passed derogatory statements and insulted him on various platforms.

Uttam said that the AICC president Sonia Gandhi had taken a right decision to offer MLC seat to a woman as there was no representation to women in the Telangana Legislative Council. He also said that Congress is the only party which has been providing equal opportunities to everyone in the party regardless of their caste, creed, sex and religion.

The leader of opposition in State Assembly Jana Reddy condemned D Srinivas's resignation and termed it as a hasty decision. "It is unjustified on the part of DS to betray the Congress party which has brought him up like a child," he said. When questioned about the speculation that he too was likely to join TRS party, Jana Reddy rubbished the reports. "They are all rumours. In the democratic set up there is nothing wrong in talking or debating with the ruling party leaders, he said.

When asked about MP Vinod meeting him at his residence, he clarified that the MP along with his brother came to invite him for Maharashtra Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao's book release function. Former deputy CM Damodar Raja Narasimha said, the party would progress at a faster pace now as the additional weight is gone.

TPCC Working president Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said that it is the sweat and blood of hundreds of the Congress party workers which made DS what he is now. He also said that Congress has a very strong base right from its roots which can’t be demolished with the exit of any leader.

Another leader Vittal Rao condemned the reports of him joining the TRS party and said he would remain with the Congress party till his last breath. Former minister, D. Sridhar Babu was also present at the press conference.
