According to Pydikondala Manikyala Rao, Minister for endowments in AP, over 7 crore people are estimated to take part in the pushkar bath in the river.He added that 10 Union ministers would participate in the Pushkarams for which around Rs 1,500 crore is being spent. The Minister disclosed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will not be attending due to other commitments, but many prominent people have already confirmed their participation.


Mr Rao stated that the pushkarams will not be any way inferior to Ganga Pushkarams or Kumbh Mela. He said that even the NGOs have been coming forward to provide meals while more than 90 percent of works at ghats were over, renovation of temples and arrangement of makeshift rest rooms are going on.
