Hyderabad: Protesting against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government for ‘failing’ to provide a corruption and scam free regime, the Left parties held a massive public meet at Indira Park here on Monday. The ten left parties including CPI (M), CPI, AIFB, RSP, CPI (ML)-Liberation and SUCI(C) took out a rally from Sundarayya Vignana Kendram to Indira Park and held the protest at the Dharna Chowk.

Addressing the gathering, CPI national secretary K Narayana said Modi had boasted that there was no scam during his one year rule but now the Vyapam case in Madhya Pradesh, which was the first such horrible scam in the country where the accused, witnesses and journalists were dying mysteriously proved the Prime Minister wrong.

Narayana said according to official statistics, as many as 47 people associated with the case, including nine important witnesses died under strange circumstances. Despite the deaths, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan wasn’t taking responsibility, he added.

CPI national secretary also said the corruption cases in BJP-ruled States like Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh were now in public domain and the leaders involved had no moral right to continue in their positions. He also found fault with the External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for her involvement in the IPL scam and Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani for furnishing fake educational

documents. He demanded resignation of both the Ministers immediately. Narayana also demanded removal of all ‘tainted’ leaders from their posts. “This is just a beginning and we will further intensify the agitation until the Chief Ministers and Union Ministers resign,” he warned.

Many leaders including New Democracy leader S Venkateshwara Rao, Janaki Ramulu from RSP, CPI former MP Aziz Pasha and many others participated in the meeting.
