Karimnagar: The crowd at the bathing ghats slightly came down on the eighth day of river Godavari Pushkaralu on Tuesday. Compared to the last three days, there was a decline in the turnout of devotees at different Pushkar ghats in the district.

According to a statement released by the district administration, a total of 11,32,854 pilgrims including 3,75,000 in Dharmapuri, 4,25,000 in Kaleshwaram, 90,000 in Manthani and 89,840 in Kotilingala took a holy dip in the river Godavari on Tuesday.

Karimnagar Range DGP Malla Reddy who examined arrangements in Dharmapuri said that about 4,000 police personnel were deployed at bathing ghats, queue lines and parking places to avert stampede. In a statement, District Collector Neetu Kumari Prasad said that top priority was given to sanitation in Dharmapuri.

The village was divided into 26 routes and 24 zones and a zonal officer and two route officers were appointed for each zone and route, she stated. A total of 105 village panchayat secretaries were deployed to maintain sanitation arrangements.
