Over 29,000 engg seats go a begging

As many as 32,966 engineering and pharmacy seats have remained unfilled after first phase of engineering counselling. While there were a total of 86,313 convener seats up for the grab, only 53,347 seats were filled. The seat allotment for engineering and pharmacy courses was done on Friday. Of 3,041 seats available in the 17 government engineering colleges, 2,972 seats were allotted.

Hyderabad: As many as 32,966 engineering and pharmacy seats have remained unfilled after first phase of engineering counselling. While there were a total of 86,313 convener seats up for the grab, only 53,347 seats were filled. The seat allotment for engineering and pharmacy courses was done on Friday. Of 3,041 seats available in the 17 government engineering colleges, 2,972 seats were allotted.
In all 228 private engineering colleges, 50,250 seats were allotted out of 79,494 seats. In both government and private engineering colleges 29,313 seats remained unoccupied. While in the case of pharmacy course (MPC group), out of 80 seats available in three government pharmacy colleges, 33 seats were allotted.
In 130 private pharmacy colleges, only 92 seats were filled out of 3,698 seats. A total of 3,653 seats were left vacant in both government and private colleges. A total of 98,643 candidates qualified in the engineering stream of Telangana State Engineering, Agriculture and Medical Common Entrance Test (TS-Eamcet). Of the total qualified, 66,410 candidates attended the certificate verification process.
But 62,668 candidates exercised their choice of colleges online. A total of 9,321 candidates did not get any allotment. This year, 79 engineering colleges registered 100 per cent admissions, whereas five colleges did not make a single admission. Around 29 colleges registered single digit admissions. For candidates whose tuition fee is zero, should report through self reporting system on the website.
And for the candidates whose fee is greater than zero, should download the challan form from the website and pay the fee mentioned on the challan in any branch of State Bank of Hyderabad and obtain two counterfoils of challan form from the bank. Later report through self reporting system on the next day and should take a print out of the joining report.
The last date for payment of fee through challan is July 27 and last date for self reporting through website is July 28. The final phase counselling will be done from July 29 to 30 and seat allotment will be done on July 31.
