Jethmalani maintained that the government has written a letter to Secretary of Home Affairs on the issue and Vijayawada Court cannot direct the telecom operators to submit the call data. The lawyer said that the TS govt tapped the phones only after the cash for vote scam surfaced in the state.
However, Additional Solicitor General Nagaraj stated that the phone tapping was not right as permission has to be obtained from the State and Union Home Secretaries only when there is a threat for national security and not on any other issues. The final judgement has been adjourned to 4 PM on Thursday after the arguments on the phone tapping cases filed by AP government ended in Hyderabad High Court.
