Hyderabad: The new Chief Information Commissioner, S Prabhakar Reddy, who assumed charge recently, said that he would like to bring down the number of pending cases and hopes to try cases within 2 months after being filed before the commission.

Speaking to The Hans India , S Prabhakar Reddy said after 10 years the Right to Information Act-2005 came into force now. Many Public Information Officers and public servants have realised that they have to furnish information asked by the public as there was no escape from it.

However, response from the first appellate authority was not up to the mark, he said. If they conduct hearings and pass appropriate orders, most of the applications would be disposed of at their end, he added. Keeping this in view, the government officials are more careful in taking decisions as their action can come out into public at any point of time.
