Hyderabad: Demanding immediate payment of arrears of bills of Indiramma Housing scheme, the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee held dharnas at Tahsildar offices across the Telangana State on Tuesday. The dharnas were led by the Congress MLAs and in-charges for Assembly constituencies.

The beneficiaries of Indiramma Housing scheme also participated in the protest. While TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka led the protest in Khammam, GHCC party wing president D Nagender organised the dharna in Hyderabad.

Addressing the protest meeting, Vikramarka said the State government did not clear the pending bills to nearly 5 lakh beneficiaries, who belonged to the SC, ST, BC and minority communities. He said that the scheme was initiated by the previous Congress government and lakhs of poor families were provided housing during the 10 year period.

He alleged that the TRS government had stopped clearing the pending bills after it came to power in June 2014. He threatened to intensify the agitation if pending bills were not cleared immediately.
