Hyderabad: In an apparent move to counter the volley of allegations levelled by the Opposition Congress against the ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), the pink party seems to be pulling up its socks as the Assembly session is round the corner.
Accusing the previous Congress regime of looting public money in the housing scheme and irrigation projects, Commercial Taxes Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav on Thursday said the Telangana government would expose the Congress leaders’ misdeeds in the coming monsoon session of the State Assembly and take serious action against those who were involved in irregularities.
Addressing a media conference here at the State Secretariat, after paying a visit to the Osmania General Hospital (OGH) which turned into a raging controversy of late over its shifting, the Minister said he was hurt at the comments including ‘Tughlaq’ and ‘Taliban’ made by former Minister Shabbir Ali against Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao.
Since inception, the TRS government was vouching for people’s welfare and all its developmental schemes spoke volumes about its commitment and sincerity, he said. Besides taking up many welfare schemes, the government was ready to spend Rs 1.42 crore to bring Krishna waters for drinking purpose to Hyderabad under phase three, he said. He flayed the Opposition for raising a hue and cry for just political mileage.
Reacting sharply on the relocation of historic OGH, he said the shifting of the famed hospital was imminent in spite of objections raised by the Opposition parties as JNTU architects made it clear that the old building spread on 2.5 acres was on the verge of collapse and repairs would not help.
Asked about the growing contention from a cross section of people, alumni of the OGH and political parties, he said, “We need to protect lives of patients and doctors who are in utter fear that anything might happen anytime.”
The Minister warned of taking serious action against the Congress leaders who involved in corrupt practices in irrigation projects through redesigning and expose the housing scam which involved large-scale corruption. In the coming Assembly session, all irregularities and Congress leaders’ misdemeanors would be exposed, he said.
Downplaying the criticism over cancellation of ration cards in Sanathnagar, Srinivas Yadav said the government would proceed with the norms of eliminating bogus cards. Meanwhile, government Chief Whip K Eshwar slammed the Congress leaders for leveling baseless allegations against the Telangana government.
Addressing another press conference, he accused the Congress leaders of making deliberate attempts against the welfare and development activities initiated by the government. He flayed the Congress and the Telugu Desam Party leaders of disrupting the growth and resorting to mudslinging activity.
The government would not keep quiet on needless rhetoric by the Congress and TD leaders, he warned. He said Chandrasekhar Rao knew how to develop the State and the Opposition should stop making false criticism.
The previous government was noted for corrupt practices and the Congress leaders indulged in looting public money in Housing scheme for poor and irrigation projects, he alleged.
