T-JAC celebrates Prof Jayashankar birth anniversary with ‘Deeksha’

Hyderabad: Telangana celebrated birth anniversary of its ideologue Prof Jayashankar on Thursday. Leading the celebrations, Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao garlanded his mentor’s statue at Telangana Bhavan in the morning while the Telangana JAC organised ‘Sampoorna Telangana Sadhana Deeksha’ with a demand to expedite bifurcation of High Court and staff allocation between Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

While the Chief Minister went around the TRS Bhavan and planted two saplings, T-JAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram appeared critical of the government. He stressed the need for the government to play a proactive role in addressing farmers’ welfare and expedite bifurcation issues which were pending for more than a year.

“It is time for the TRS government to act and take measures to instill confidence among farming community. Giving priority to industry and other sectors should be welcomed but at the same time agriculture sector should be on top of the priority list,” said Prof Kodandaram.

T-JAC Chairman Prof Kodandaram and steering committee members, including Mallepalli Lakshmaiah, G Rajender Reddy, K Raghu, Pittala Ravinder among others sat for one-and-a-half hour near Martyrs’ Memorial statue. Ministers could go and meet families of farmers so that they would get the impression that government was there to help them in times of distress, T-JAC Chairman said.

The T-JAC commenced the second phase of agitation with Thursday’s Deeksha. “Now that one year has been completed, TJAC will strive to exert pressure on both the State and Central governments to implement public-friendly policies, “he said. Floral tributes were paid to Prof Jayashankar at Secretariat, Collecterates of Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy, BRK Bhavan, Gaganvihar complex, Sankshema Bhavan, Press Academy as well as in offices of government employees unions like TGOs and TNGOs among others.
