Hyderabad: The Union government is vigilantly monitoring the activities of ISIS and ensure that they leave no effect on the country, said Union Minister of State for Home Haribhai P Chaudhary said on Wednesday. The Minister participated in the 23rd formation day celebrations of Rapid Action Force (RAF) at Hakimpet in Hyderabad.

“We are closely monitoring the ISIS activities. Not just in Hyderabad, we have also caught those who are doing it online. Some youths may get misguided, but the government has kept a strict vigil on ISIS activities to check its entry into India,” the Minister told reporters.

Responding to a query, he said the Centre was taking steps to check the spread of ISIS in the country and more specifically at places like Hyderabad, where the police claimed to have spotted and stopped several youngsters when they were allegedly leaving the country to join the banned outfit in Syria, and also counselled them.

Earlier, addressing the gathering at the parade, the Minister recalled the contribution of the RAF units deployed in 10 sensitive locations in India in tackling various communal riots, riotous situations securing various mammoth religious congregations, rescue and relief operations, promoting communal peace and social harmony in their areas of responsibilities.

He appreciated the sensitisation projects launched by RAF on Swachh Bharat, ecological preservation and various other innovations on renewable energy and environmental education, and said that five new RAF units have also been sanctioned by the Centre to augment the strength of the force.

The Minister complemented the RAF for its regular dispatch of male, female contingents in various UNO peace keeping missions in Liberia, Kosovo, Haiti and other missions. Seventy eight CRPF officers were bestowed with President’s Police medals for their meritorious and distinguished services.

The high light of the event was the breathtaking motorcycle daredevil stunts by RAF Mahila Commandos and Silambam show. CRPF DG Prakash Mishra, CRPF Special DG K Durga Prasad, RAF IG K S Bhandari, IG Vishnuvardhan Rao, DIG RAF (Mumbai) R R Dutta, and other senior officers of CRPF and State police attended the event.
