Danam NagenderHyderabad: Speculation is rife that the former Minister and Greater Hyderabad Congress Committee (GHCC) president Danam Nagender would be joining the TRS party immediately after GHMC elections.

Elections to the GHMC are likely to be held in the month of January next year. The civic body elections are considered to be prestigious to all political parties. But, the city-based Congress leaders have kept a low profile.

According to sources, amongst several local leaders, Nagender continues to maintain his contacts with the ruling TRS party, particularly after former TDP leader Talasani Srinivas Yadav became the Minister in the KCR Cabinet.

In July, Srinivas Yadav’s visit to Nagender’s residence had created a flutter among the political circles. There was speculation that Nagender would jump onto the bandwagon of the TRS.

The meeting took place within days of Nagender denying the reports that he would be following in the footsteps of former PCC chief D Srinivas.

Nagender had blamed his detractors for unleashing malicious campaign against him and carrying tales against him to the high command.

Grapevine has it that Srinivas Yadav is making efforts to rope in Nagender into the party to neutralise the influence of P Vijaya Reddy, daughter of former Minister P Janardhan Reddy,

who was the mass leader in the city. Srinivas Yadav and Nagender were always at loggerheads with Janardhan Reddy. Some of former corporators too may join the TRS along with Nagender, the source said.
