Hyderabad: The Telangana TDP on Friday demanded Governor ESL Narasimhan to remove Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC) Chairman P Ramulu from his post on the grounds that his appointment was unconstitutional.

Senior TDP leader and Jubilee Hills MLA Maganti Gopinath submitted a memorandum to the Governor at Raj Bhavan on Friday and requested him to take action immediately. He said, “Article 319 (b) of the Constitution says that the Chairman of the Union Public Service Commission shall be ineligible for further employment either under the Government of India or under the Government of a State.

The Chairman of a State Public Service Commission shall be eligible for appointment as the Chairman or any other member of the Union Public Service Commission or as the Chairman of any other State Public Service Commission, but not for any other employment either under the Government of India or under the Government of a State.”

Ramulu was appointed as Chairman of the APPSC (AP Public Service Commission) in the undivided Andhra Pradesh in 2003 and retained his post till July. “Now, his appointment as the Chairman with the status of a cabinet minister of a Corporation dealing with commercial activity was against the constitution,” Gopinath said. He demanded that all the decisions taken by Ramulu be annulled and allowances paid to the Chairman be cancelled.
