Hyderabad: In a bid to root out corruption, the Telangana State Transport Authority will be ushering online services in all RTA offices in the State. Presently, two services - learning and permanent licence - are offered online but within a fortnight, almost 18 services would be made available to citizens.

The initiative comes in the wake of several raids by the ACB in RTA offices across the State, especially in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy RTA offices. Agents and employees of the department have been caught red handed several times fleecing clients.

According to a senior official in the Transport Department, the services would be made available within 15 days. Once the applicant completes the formalities online he/she would receive an SMS about the date on which he/she would have to be present in their respective RTA offices with originals for verification. The applicant has to pay the fee in e-seva.

The online services will be inaugurated by the Transport Minister soon. The list of services that are to be offered online include transfer of ownership, duplicate registration, duplicate driving licence, no objection certificate, State and national permits for transport vehicles of tourist buses and lorries, taxes, change of name, renewal of registration of vehicle (after 15 years), international driving permit, NOC from one State to another and one district to other, hypothecation of the vehicle and clearance certificate of driving licence.

The Telangana transport department website http://www.transport.telangana.gov.in/ caters to all the ten districts. With the marriage and Sabarimala season round the corner, the request for temporary permits has increased manifold. These services would also be made online, according to the official. There are about 2,000 agents in Hyderabad and Ranga Reddy. They are afraid that they would lose their livelihood.
