Singer Madhu Priya gets hitched amid high drama
Madhu Priya, who shot into fame as a teenage prodigy with her “Adapaillanamma nenu” song in the MAA TV –Super Singer contest before becoming one of the cultural icons of the Telangana movement, has on Friday become bride but not before facing high drama with her parents making a vain attempt to stop the marriage.

At the age of barely 12, Madhu Priya is well known to people in the region as she featured regularly on the small screen as a singer and also as an anchor, besides providing strength and substance to Telangana agitation with foot-tapping folk numbers.
According to reports, Madhu Priya and Mangi Srikanth, who befriended each other during the shoot of a short film a couple of years ago, fell in love with each other and wanted to get married. The singer recently turned major. They made wedding arrangements at a private function hall here at 11.20 am on Friday.
While there was no objection from Srikanth’s side, Madhu’s parents were unhappy as the marriage would come in the way of her career and moreover, she was too young to get married. In this backdrop, Madhu’s parents and relatives came to Srikanth’s house in the early hours of Friday and tried to take home Madhu, who reportedly came to here a few days ago.
After an altercation and jostling between both sides, they approached Kagaznagar police. The inspector Ramsh Babu counselled the couple and their relatives. While giving their consent to the marriage, Madhu’s parents asked their daughter to wait some more time as she has a bright future ahead of her.
As Madhu persisted with her decision to marry today itself, her parents and relatives went out of the police station disappointed. Later in the afternoon, she got married to Srikanth amid police security. Although the couple invited quite a few prominent persons and leaders for their wedding, the controversy dampened the spirit as no one had attended it except for bridegroom’s friends and relatives.
Mallesh, who works with Singareni Collieries in Godavarikhani of Karimnagar district, is a native of Ramaraopet village under Jaipoor mandal in Adilabad district. But his family lives at Nallakunta in Hyderabad. Madhu is the second of Peddinti Mallesh and Sujatha couple’s three daughters.
