Warangal: Tension prevailed during an election meeting by TRS at Shayampet mandal headquarters on Friday as an angry farmer threw a chappal at Deputy Chief Minister Kadiyam Srihari while he was addressing the gathering. The farmer missed his target but the incident left the Dy CM and the TRS leaders shocked.

The TRS nominee P Dayakar, Agriculture Minister P Srinivas Reddy, TRS district president T Ravinder Rao, senior leader P Sudarshan Reddy and others were present on the dais when the incident occurred. The party workers who jumped into action caught the farmer who was identified as Damerakonda Komuraiah of Arepally village in the district and handed him over to the police. He is the BC JAC co-convener of Shayampet mandal. It was said that the farmer was a former TRS party worker.

Reacting to the incident, the TRS leader Ravinder Rao described the farmer as mentally unsound who belonged to CPI (ML) New Democracy party. ‘It was his practice to create disturbance at public meetings’, he added.

The incident occurred as the Dy CM was explaining that the BJP failed to give Rs 5,000 MSP to cotton. Komuraiah in an angry mood retorted why TRS government also failed and immediately hurled his chappal. In a similar incident on Thursday, Parkal MLA Ch Dharma Reddy also faced embarrassing moments during his election campaign at Pocharam village in Parkal mandal.
