GHMC directed to halt illegal constructions

Justice CV Nagarjuna Reddy of the High Court at Hyderabad faulted the Commissioner GHMC for failure to stall illegal constructions. The judge granted time till November 16 to the GHMC Commissioner to state steps to be undertaken to nip the illegal constructions.

The judge is dealing with a writ plea filed by a resident of the city Jan Mohammed alias Shahan complaining of constructions by his neighbour contrary to the sanctioned plan. The judge observed that the civic authority which has the responsibility of ensuring planned development had failed to effectively deal with the complaint of large-scale illegal constructions.
