Hyderabad: The High Court on Thursday issued a notice to Minister for Commercial Taxes Talasani Srinivas Yadav for holding the post of a Minister in the Telangana State Cabinet after defecting from the TDP to the TRS.

Taking a writ petition on file by Thangella Sivaprasad Reddy seeking disqualification of Srinivas Yadav as Minister, the High Court asked the latter to give an explanation in four weeks. The court also directed the Minister to file a counter affidavit and posted the case for hearing after four weeks.

The issue of his becoming a Minister had become bone of contention with TDP leaders Errabelli Dayakar Rao, L Ramana and A Revanth Reddy complaining to Governor E S L Narasimhan, urging him to take action against Srinivas Yadav. However, the Governor cannot take action as the Assembly Speaker S Madhusudhana Chary is the competent authority either to accept or reject Srinivas Yadav’s resignation.

The TDP leaders then approached the High Court, the judges felt that the ball was in the court of the Speaker. The Minister has been insisting that he has already tendered his resignation to MLA post and the Speaker has to take a decision. He also expressed readiness to contest and win the bypoll as and when it is held.
